The Disney Magic

Disney is an almost magical word all by itself. Think about what the mere word conjures up in your mind. What do you see in your mind's eye? For me, I tend to think first of the cartoons from my youth - Mickey Mouse, Donald - all the characters that were so popular. Next, since I have children, I tend to recall the films - everything from Sleeping Beauty through The Lion King.

Probably the most potent of the memories really have to do with Disney World. I can still remember the first time I ever went to Disney World with my small children. They were far more enchanted than I was, though a few things still stick in my mind - attractions now lost in time. My youngest daughter was totally engrossed in the "It's Small World" and wanted to ride it over and over until I just couldn't take it any more. Since that first visit was in the 1970's, Disney World hadn't yet become anything like the incredible complex it is today. It was smaller, simpler and to my mind less magical than it has become. The other thing was that it rained something fierce that day.

All that is far in the past and Disney today is a truly marvelous adventure with spectacular attractions and rides that will make your visit unforgettable. It's not just an enchantment for children either. Today, you'll find that many of the 'rides' are a fascinating experience for adults also. From the Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom, at EPCOT and at Disney-MGM you'll find exciting and intriguing experiences for the whole family.

And that's just a part of the full Disney scene. Water parks and luxury hotels, Disney Downtown in Orlando, villas, condos and more await you now. Even Disney cruises are a part of the full new Disney experience. I was reluctant to go again after that first visit long ago, but I'm glad I did. It was an experience I doubt will ever really fade and it's something I'll happily repeat as long as I can con some kid into providing cover for me so I can have serious fun without looking like a brain-dead weirdo. Yes, folks, you'll have even more fun at Disney if you take a kid along to help you see the world again through new eyes. But you have to go with the experience and turn off that adult head that keeps telling you it's all illusion.

Disney may be mostly an illusion, but it's one worth experiencing with an open mind. So much of our lives are made up of illusions that aren't worth the trouble or expense we waste on them. Disney will enchant and fascinate you, all you need to do is let it into your heart.
